Woodie Guthrie was a community project lead by activist and musician Pete Seeger. The Woodie is a scaled down version of a Hudson River Sloop, a working type common on the Hudson during the end of the age of sail. Today she operates out of Beacon, New York as a non-profit that takes hundreds of people day sailing each year for free, and is closely associated with the full size Hudson River Sloop, Clearwater.
C&E was asked to build a new main boom for the Woodie after the old one broke. Garett also did a good deal of the hull planking on her when she was rebuilt by the Hudson River Maritime Museum in 2016.
